Backend Software Engineer

12 month rolling contract

Hybrid in Dearborn, Seattle, Portland or Palo Alto

This request is to fill a Software Engineer position on the Ford Pro Intelligence (FPI) team. The Software Engineer role will work on a balanced team and collaborate with a Product Owner, Product Manager, and Product Designer to deliver products to support the FPI program. The team will deliver a portfolio of products involving telematics tools and additional fleet management services. The FPI product suite provides a customer facing user experience through UI and API offerings that integrate with existing systems to communicate back and forth with the Ford vehicles. The Software Engineer will deliver value through Agile software development practices in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Software developer with responsibilities to define, design, develop, and deploy services and applications in a micro service / cloud-based architecture.

Ensure functional and non-functional quality and on-time delivery using agile principles.

Embrace extreme programming practices including paired development, test driven development, and continuous delivery to release early and often.

Collaborate and work closely together with a balanced team of developers.

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science or related field

3+ years Java development experience building micro service and cloud-based solutions using Spring Platform (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud)

3+ years JavaScript experience for front end user experience or similar (Vue.js, React, or Angular)

2+ years web service delivery experience (using REST) for backend services

1+ years experience with cloud environments (Google Cloud, Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS or similar)

Developing and maintaining APIs, data ingestors and data processors in the Ford Pro Intelligence ecosystem including Ford Telematics and in vehicle management services

Tech stack is primarily Kotlin with some Java Services as well. All services are hosted on GCP using PCF as our orchestration framework.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Test-Driven Development and Agile Methodologies.

Experience with software development tools (backlog management, source code management, automated and unit test management, CI/CD, etc)

Proven ability to work both individually and collaboratively

Strong communication skills and ability to think above and beyond baseline requirements.
