YOUR IMPACT You will be responsible for: This position will serve as a key component of the Community Development customer service team. Under the supervision of the Engineering Department, Planning Department, and Building and Safety Department, this position performs a variety of field and office duties related to development and construction in the City, including, but not limited to: Working directly with the public over the phone and at the public counter, communicating with the public both orally and in writing. Responding to inquiries related to engineering, planning, and building & safety requirements, including but not limited to: Requirements relative to construction, alteration, and maintenance of civil engineering facilities. Routine questions concerning zoning, land use, the general plan, and current projects. Processing forms, building permit applications, encroachment permit applications, and plans necessary for permit issuance. Assisting the Community Improvement Department with code enforcement cases and inspection coordination. Monitoring and responding to emails and messages received through general email and voicemail inboxes.Receiving plans and submittals at the counter for review and processing, in addition to verifying the completeness and accuracy of material submitted for approval.Researching project design requirements, preparing engineering estimates of time and material costs, and assisting in the preparation and overseeing of contract documents for development related projects.Using a computer for drafting design plans and maps and performing drafting calculations.Organizing appointments and schedules, and communicating effectively through email, phone, texts, and internal system platforms to exchange information.Researching existing, historical, and official records; data collection and record keeping; processing permits and performing related duties as required.
