SUMMARY
Provides facility performance analysis, modeling, and engineering support to assist in the optimization of plant operations. Maximizes revenue through power generation in a safe and efficient manner. Accountable for documentation of departmental activities including, but not limited to summary activity reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly), system and equipment performance reports, equipment inspection reports (periodically scheduled, preventative, and predictive types), and engineering design review reports. Coordinates with other departments to address project needs and issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed).
- Adheres to, supports and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees work safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Conducts conceptual engineering and design of plant and well field processes and facilities.
- Implements production assurance programs including event response, reliability profile, condition assessment, and plant indicators.
- Performs quarterly monitoring of nine 30MW geothermal power plants. Recommends system enhancements to improve efficiency and plant operating economics.
- Directs production engineering and production system optimization via numeric modeling and functional verification of gathering systems operations.
- Provides engineering support services to all internal departments and external projects as required to achieve overall project excellence.
- Serves on various management and project committees performing plant improvement studies, project review, safety audits, etc., optimizing the return on investment, cost effectiveness, and the safety of all personnel and the environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE - Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in either Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering; Certification as a Professional Engineer. A minimum of 7 years experience in the design, analysis, and modeling of fluid processing systems is required. A thorough knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow must be demonstrated. Intermediate to advanced computer skills in word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet software is also needed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Valid California Driver's License. Current registration as a professional engineer.
