Job description

Position Information

Provides pre-health advising for UCR students and alumni from all majors interested in pursuing a graduate/professional degree in the health professions. In addition, this position assists with program development, such as creating workshop ideas and materials, speaker series, assessment and evaluation, recruitment activities as well as other related duties. Assists with coordination of peer mentor program including selection, training and supervision of 16+ peer mentors. Compiles statistical data on students applying to health professions schools. Assists in planning long term goals to increase productivity of office. Represents the Health Professions Advising Center, Undergraduate Education and UCR at various events on campus and in the community.

The full salary range for the Pre-Health Advisor is $54,200 - $93,200 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $54,200 - $60,000. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.



Education

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
  • Master's degree in related field (Preferred)
License Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)


Experience Requirements
  • 4 - 7 years of related experience. (Required)
  • Experience in maintaining simple or moderately complex databases through data entry, data queries, and database design modifications. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases, including a Student Information System. (Required)
  • Previous college/university advising experience. (Preferred)
  • Previous supervisory experience. (Preferred)


Minimum Requirements

Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of student development, student academic support, and academic and curriculum requirements to help student achieve academic success. Superior communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, economic and educational backgrounds. Skill in making oral and written presentations through various media formats to colleagues or subordinates to provide information, instructions, or explain subjects of interest. Thorough knowledge of department/school college policies, procedures, and requirements. Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, and schools. Ability to multi-task. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.



Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of current web application and technologies to include skills in performing web management and design. Thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements.
