Job description

The Survey Analyst is responsible for providing technical expertise in the processing, analysis, and interpretation of survey data. This role supports field crews and project managers by performing calculations, preparing survey maps, and ensuring accuracy in data for land development, infrastructure, and construction projects. The Survey Analyst plays a critical role in transforming raw survey data into precise and actionable information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process field data collected by survey crews and perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Prepare and analyze survey-related CAD drawings, including boundary surveys, topographic maps, ALTA/NSPS surveys, land title surveys, subdivision maps, and as-built surveys.

Perform calculations for boundary analysis, construction staking, and other survey tasks using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry software.

Conduct closure calculations, coordinate geometry (COGO) computations, and resolve discrepancies in field data.

Review and interpret civil plans, architectural plans, and structural drawings to provide technical support to field crews and project managers.

Collaborate with survey project managers to ensure project objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.

Assist in the preparation of legal descriptions, plats, and exhibits as required for various project types.

Ensure compliance with jurisdictional codes, standards, and survey regulations.

Communicate effectively with field staff, engineers, and clients to clarify survey requirements and resolve technical issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the surveying, engineering, or construction industry.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and other relevant software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.

Strong understanding of surveying principles, boundary analysis, coordinate geometry, and construction staking techniques.

Familiarity with processing submittals to city, county, and public agencies.

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to perform accurate and precise calculations.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project teams and clients.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of California land use laws, regulations, and survey standards.

Experience in preparing legal descriptions, plats, and other deliverables for public and private sector projects.

Previous field experience as a survey technician or crew member is a plus.
