Location:

• This position is hybrid and candidate will be required to be onsite in San Diego, as needed.
• This position has the option to work a 9/80 schedule, which is a compressed work schedule, with alternate Fridays off.

Job Description:
Forward Slope, Inc. is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer with familiarity in fielding U.S. Navy software to lead a software engineering team and to provide software development, integration, and infrastructure support for a complex set of U.S. Navy software systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). Day-to-day efforts include working with highly talented professionals and subject matter experts to support enterprise software systems for the U.S. warfighters.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance (required)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics
• Experience with leading software teams to develop and deliver U.S. Navy software to afloat and ashore environments, including:

• Establishing software architecture that aligns with requirements and best practices
• Implementing microservices design and DevSecOps principles
• Overseeing development tasking and software deliveries/deployments
• Supervising and mentoring software developers
• Ensuring developed capabilities meet requirements

• 10+ years of demonstrated software engineering experience with:

• Containerization and orchestration technologies (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes)
• CI/CD automation tools (i.e., Jenkins, Tekton)
• Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services (i.e., REST, AJAX, JSON)
• Cloud Computing (i.e., AWS)
• Application hosting (i.e., Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, IIS)
• RDBMS database design (i.e., PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, MySQL)
• Object-oriented programming (i.e., Java, Python, C#, C++)
• UI development with modern web technologies (i.e., Node.js, Angular)
• Automated testing (i.e., Selenium, Cypress)
• Static Application Security Testing (i.e., SonarQube, Coverity)
• Source Code Management (i.e., Git)
• Agile software development

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the U.S. Navy's:

• Risk Management Framework (RMF) Authority to Operate (ATO) process
• Rapid Assess and Incorporate Software Engineering (RAISE) process
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modeling (i.e., Cameo Systems Modeler)

• CompTIA Security+ Certification

Salary Range: $165,000 - $215,000/year
