Epsilon Systems Solutions, has a contingent job opportunity for a full-time Graving Dock Shore Electrician II in San Diego, CA Job Summary: The position will without more than normal supervision provide maintenance, repair and technical support on shore based graving dock electrical systems and components as a subject matter expert, utilizing available technical documents (JFMM, Instructions, NSTM's, Military standards, Test memos, Test Standards, Drawings and MFR Technical Manuals). The position will also perform a variety of duties in support of vessel docking/undocking evolutions. Duties & Responsibilities: Operate, maintain, and repair a variety of graving dock machinery electrical systems and components related to include but not limited to various pump types, capstans/winches/windlass, towing array equipment and slew motor gear assemblies. Monitor electrical systems on a routine basis for problems or abnormalities, when identified notify supervisor, analyze causes, suggest possible solutions, performing corrective action as authorized. Troubleshoot, diagnoses and repair the below shore based electrical circuits across various equipment types, ensuring conformance to applicable local and/or National Electrical Codes (NEC): Install and connect wiring via control panels, and junction boxes. Install new fuses, electrical cables, terminal boxes, switches, lighting or power sources as required, locate and remove or repair circuit defects such as blown fuses. Adjust, repair, or replace defective wiring, relays, safety switches and/or interlocks. Remove, reassemble, reinstall and test circuits of various pump types, capstans/winches/windlass, towing array equipment and slew motors subsequent to repairs. Perform electrical equipment operational checks prior to and/or subsequent to dock operations as required. Perform electrical operational checks subsequent to equipment repairs, changeouts or extended downtime. Perform preventive maintenance checks as required, reporting any deficiencies to the supervisor. Comply with applicable PPE requirements, to include Lockout-Tag-out procedures as required for work being performed. Be available to perform overtime duties as required for pre-docking, docking and undocking, as these evolutions typically take place during the night. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 4 years of Navy/Maritime industry work-related experience as a Navy Electrician (EM) or Naval Shipyard Electrician. Hold current, or ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance. Knowledge of electrical theory and thorough understanding of techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical trade. Familiarity with local and/or National Electrical Codes (NEC). Knowledge of Lockout Tag-out procedures and electrical safety. Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors. Ability to see details at close range. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, technical manuals, repair standards and other detailed written instructions. Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedure and appropriate applicable technical guidance. Sound interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively across a wide range of seniority levels with both govt and active duty military. Effective oral and written communication skills. Obtain CPR certification if not already certified. Obtain PQS 301 Craftsmen qualification within 90 days. Obtain the following qualifications within 12 months: Graving Dock pump room operator Graving Dock sluice gate operator Graving Dock Caisson operator Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $26.07-$47.79 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. ADA Notations: Requires working, walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of noise. Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways. Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight. Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
