Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full time OHE Hoist Lead II in San Diego, CA. Job Summary: Provide hands on technical expertise and supervision of assigned personnel in the assessment, inspection, repair, overhaul, weight testing and certification of a variety of shipboard hoists, Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE), and Material Handling Equipment (MHE), to include providing shipboard technical assistance as requested, making the necessary adjustments to handling equipment in support of testing and certification of ship's systems and/or operations when practical.
This equipment includes, but is not limited to: Adapters/Beams/Carriers/Strongbacks of various types
Slings and Pendants of various types
Manual, Ratchet, Pneumatic, and Electric Chain Hoists of various types up to 12 ton capacity Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of daily OHE/MHE (Hoist) shop operations; assessment, inspection, repair, overhaul, weight testing and certification of shipboard hoist, Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE), and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in a safe, effective and efficient manner, ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized as required
Works on skill development of junior personnel; proper use of standard hand, diagnostic, and special tools
Ensures all work assigned to technicians is done so in an equal and fair manner in alignment with individual strengths
Maintains high standards of work, monitoring technicians' daily productivity and conducting periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality
Tracks and approves assigned employee time documentation, ensuring compliance with company timekeeping policy and accurate alignment to projects as required.
Coordinates leave of assigned personnel, ensuring adequate coverage to support workload
Maintains harmony and teamwork within the shop OHE shop, and all other shops within the facility
Consults with supervisor to address corrective actions on areas of weakness and dealing with conflict
Consults with supervisor for regular performance reviews for junior technicians
Supports the screening of resumes for open positions, candidate interviews and selection
Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness and the condition of shop tools/equipment
Ensures compliance with proper hazmat/hazwaste use, storage and disposal procedures
Provides process improvement suggestions to supervisor in order to increase productivity and implement positive change
Recommends to supervisor appropriate manufacturer training
Keeps abreast of available equipment and tool upgrades and provide recommendations for procurement to supervisor
Coordinates with Govt TPOC and Ship Superintendents ships' force delivery and pickup of associated equipment to and from the facility
Maintains accountability of all authorized work requests (AWR) ensuring that all equipment received has an associated AWR stating equipment type, serial number, specific work to be performed and period of performance (POP)
Advises supervisor and TPOC of any equipment received requiring work outside that as defined in the AWR
Advises supervisor and TPOC of any equipment received that is unserviceable/missing and/or long lead parts which would jeopardize POP completing date
Tracks all incoming, in work and completed work, providing an updated report on a weekly basis to the supervisor
Provides technical support to assigned technicians as necessary
Assists in the periodic facility weight test certification process
Maintains shop government furnished material (GFM) inventory
Maintains shop tool inventory
Other tasks as assigned by supervisor Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 10 years of work-related experience in the assessment, inspection, repair, overhaul, weight testing and certification of Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE), and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) specific to various types of Adapters/Beams/Carriers/Strongbacks; Slings, Pendants; Manual, Ratchet, Pneumatic, and Electric Chain Hoists
Possess sound interpersonal skills needed to interface with assigned company personnel, customers, and outside contacts.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions; technical manuals, schematics and drawing and/or MRC cards
Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
Possess a valid driver's license
Basic computer skills Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $32.30 To $41.00 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. ADA Notations: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to operate forklift, man lift and scissor lift
Ability to wear a face mask while working
Requires walking, standing, climbing stairs, visual skills and manual dexterity
Ability to go shipboard and work in a shipboard environment
