We have an exciting new opportunity and are currently looking to add a Senior Engineering Technician (Electrical) to our berthing and maintenance team, supporting the Naval Base San Diego, California. This position will provide Combat Systems maintenance and maintenance training, to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance and assessment of Combat Systems equipment including but not limited to: Alarms/Sensors, Security Systems, Exterior Communications equipment, Audio/Visual/Display systems, Force Protection equipment, Navigation equipment, Meteorological equipment, Countermeasure system and associated network system (excluding IT systems), Electronic Cooling/Dry Air system, and associated repairs, and to instruct Ship's Force personnel to conduct functional checks and operational test of those systems/equipment onboard U.S. Navy CG, DDG and Amphib Class ships home ported or in the port in San Diego, California. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Required to conform to HII-FSG Quality Assurance, Safety and Health procedures. - Provide engineering and technical support for specified U.S. Navy CG, DDG and Amphib class ships on a schedule established by the TA.
- Assist Ship's Force in performing necessary repairs to and testing of onboard installed Combat Systems equipment.
- Assist Ship's Force with the assessment, renovation and repairs of components and equipment in accordance with technical manuals and PMS documentation as directed by the TA for identified discrepancies and assigned Automated Work Requests (AWR).
- Assist Ship's Force in performing inspections and operation performance tests of Combat Systems equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to correct equipment and system discrepancies, and recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
- Provide engineering and technical support services and assist Ship's Force in diagnosing equipment problems, making repairs, and maintaining systems equipment.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and assist ship's force with repair of the following, to include but not limited to: - Internal Communications Systems, Alarms and Sensors Systems, Security Systems, Navigation Equipment, Radar and Sensor Systems, Meteorological Equipment, etc.
- Develop and provide equipment/system training guides.
- Other duties as assigned. Experience/Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience with either shipboard marine electronics or skilled trades experience with related electronics maintenance and repair experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense confidential security
clearance and base access.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes, no less than 30lbs.
- Must be able to work on and climb ladders.
- Be able to work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Able to perform other duties as assigned which may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions as well as working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
- May require wearing a respirator.
- Valid driver's license (if required) Preferred Qualifications:
- NAVSEA STD 009-123 Fiber Optic Certification and experience building, installing, and/or repairing fiber optic connectors preferred.
- Preferred maintenance experience with systems.
