Job description

Duties You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of assigned Industrial Quality Department Branch to ensure that assigned personnel complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. You will conduct quality audits and investigations, analyzing the results and developing recommendations for corrections and improvements. You will ensure that verification of essential quality requirements is accomplished, deficiencies are properly documented, and corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence. You will plan and schedule work in a manner that motes a smooth flow, even distribution and adjust short-term priorities to meet schedules. You will establish manpower requirements and negotiate with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to ensure adequate Quality Assurance (QA) support. You will identify requirements and initiate requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. You will evaluate performance of subordinates, give instructions, provide advice, and counsel to subordinates on performance, technical, and administrative matters. You will hear and resolve complaints at the lowest level, referring grievances and serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervision. You will provide continuing assistance to all areas to resolve product/process quality issues, to implement process improvements, and to identify and resolve safety related issues/violations. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Conducting quality audits and investigations, analyzing the results and developing recommendations for corrections and improvements; (2) Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical data associated with the production and manufacturing process; (3) Reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, instructions, and technical manuals; (4) Utilizing data collection procedures and information gathering techniques; (5) Ensuring that verification of essential quality requirements is accomplished, deficiencies are properly documented, and corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence; (6) Providing assistance to resolve product and process quality issues, to implement process improvements, and to identify and resolve safety related issues and violations; and (7) Planning, organizing, and directing the activities of personnel, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and ensuring customer requirements are satisfied. Additional information Incumbent may be expected to walk in various areas of the facility that requires an alertness to safety facets such as hearing, eye, and chemical hazards when operating around industrial processes, machinery and aircraft. Incumbent may be expected to climb, stoop, and bend that involves moderate risks (climbing on aircraft to 40 feet and crawling through interior of aircraft and engine areas which are extremely confined). Work environment requires compliance with established Occupational Safety and Health policies and may require the use of protective clothing, safety shoes, glasses, ear protection, and observation of appropriate precautions.
