Forward Slope Inc. is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate will be onsite in San Diego, CA, but remote work is an option. This position has the option to work a 9/80 schedule. This is a compressed work schedule with alternate Fridays off. Job Description: Forward Slope is seeking a fast-learning Software / Systems Engineer to provide Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modeling for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). This position involves creating, updating, and managing SysML models, while developing and generating source code based on the models. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a distributed team environment and working independently. This role requires a deep understanding of systems engineering principles, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. Develop and maintain system models using MBSE tools such as SysML, UML, or similar.
Develop automation scripts in the model using Ruby and/or VTL programming language.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, architecture, and design.
Create and manage system architecture documentation and diagrams.
Perform model-based analysis, simulation, and verification to ensure system performance and compliance.
Integrate and interface system models with hardware and software components.
Support requirements traceability and validation efforts through model-based techniques.
Participate in design reviews, technical audits, and risk assessments.
Provide guidance and training to team members on MBSE methodologies and tools.
Identify and address potential issues or risks in system designs and processes.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Currently hold an active U.S security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on model-based approaches.
Proficiency with MBSE tools such as No Magic Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw).
Proficiency with model automation in a Cameo environment using Ruby and/or VTL programming language.
Proficiency with UAF/DoDAF frameworks.
Experience with SysML, UML, and related modeling languages.
Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices.
Knowledge of system lifecycle management and configuration management practices.
Desired Qualifications: Software development experience with C++ and/or Java.
Familiarity with software and systems engineering practices (i.e. Agile methodologies).
Demonstrated experience with Atlassian suite or equivalent (i.e., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Experience with DoD/Navy is advantageous.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 per year
