Job Description and Duties The Deputy Executive Director, External Affairs leads the External Affairs Division at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to achieve the CPUC's policy goals. The leader strategizes and executes communications and external affairs that build and enhance CPUC's public presence. The position leads the division in seven core functions: public and media relations, creative services, internal and executive communications for the 1600+ employee organization, public participation and engagement, consumer assistance and advocacy, strategic programs and community partnerships aligned with CPUC priorities. The position is part of the CPUC's Executive Leadership Team and reports to the Executive Director, and works with the Commissioners, the Governor's Office, the Legislature, external stakeholders, and senior management within the CPUC.
