POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Youth Specialist will provide financial literacy services to program participants through one on-one case management and group workshops incorporating the evidence-based curriculum, Keys to Your Financial Future, specifically designed for older youth and young adults with foster care experience. The goal of the curriculum is to provide youth with information and opportunities to learn skills to build financial capabilities. The curriculum will be enhanced through individualized one-on-one financial literacy counseling. This position is required to work onsite and in the community Monday Friday.
About Guaranteed Income
First Place for Youth is partnering with San Francisco City to provide voluntary financial literacy coaching and case management to Guaranteed Income Pilot (GI) participants, including provision of individualized assistance with budget planning; acquiring checking accounts and assistance in building the skills necessary for creation and maintenance of positive relationships with financial institutions.
DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct outreach to youth and adult supporters to promote participation in the Guaranteed Income Pilot (GI) and Keys to Your Financial Future training and programming.
- Schedule and coordinate Keys to Your Financial Future training courses, both online and in person.
- Conduct Keys to Your Financial Future trainings in an engaging, youth-centered manner that result in improvements to the financial literacy of participants.
- Provide streamlined technology-based tools for service delivery, and promote team-based intervention strategies.
- Provide individualized Coaching and Financial Planning which may include pulling credit reports for analysis, improving credit, understanding credit cards, budgeting.
- Assist with bank account acquisition and skills necessary for creation and maintenance of positive relationships with financial institutions.
- Maintaining individual youth files that include comprehensive records regarding youths involvement in the program.
- Provide support regarding grant and contract reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with other foster-youth serving agencies and resources to support youth financial stability needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education, social work, business, finance, or a related field.
- Fluency in Spanish required (reading, writing, and verbal).
- Experience working with youth or young adults in one of the following fields: program management, non-profits, social services, education, financial services, employment services, or a related field.
- Proven ability to develop authentic, supportive relationships with youth and young adults.
- Strong data management and computer skills.
- Experience teaching or coaching youth or young adults (preferred).
- Experience as a financial literacy trainer or coach (preferred).
- Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, Project and Outlook. Experience with database systems.
- Strong Communication Skills Exceptional oral and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to research, assimilate, and analyze information, compose engaging messages, and present data in a clear and inspiring manner.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work and some travel as needed.
