Manager of Finance

Manager of Finance has a strong background in finance, accounting, journal entries, reclassifications, and audit, particularly with experience in SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards) audit. Finance Manager will have experience in billing for government grants. In addition to strong technical accounting skills, possess excellent skills, including time management, attention to detail, and a self-driven attitude towards continuous learning.

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Finance and Planning, responsible for the financial management of organization.
  • In coordination with Associate Director of Finance and Planning, responsible for the monthly invoicing of all grants and contracts in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Ensures all invoices are timely and accurate. Promotes timely payment from funders.
  • Assists Senior Director and CFO in the development of the Annual Agency Budgets and periodic (monthly or quarterly) financial forecasts.
  • Assists Senior Director to manage program and agency budgets to maximize revenue and identify potential areas of improvement and cost savings.
  • Uses financial modeling to simulate financial scenarios and forecasts. Present potential scenarios and outcomes to CFO and/or management team with an eye to avoid financial pitfalls, recommend solutions and improve financial health of the agency.
  • Works with Program and Administrative Directors to promote continual improvements in financial management against budgets.
  • Conduct monthly financial assessments with each Director and generate reports to be submitted to CFO and the senior management team.
  • Works in coordination with to Senior Controller to ensure accuracy of financial records and adherence to financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Works with the Development department and Senior Controller to ensure restricted private donations are spent in accordance with donor restrictions, and financial reports to funders are accurate and timely.
  • Assists Senior Director coordinate for all compliance audits from both public and private agencies.
  • Works in coordination with Senior Controller and his staff as required to ensure successful financial audits for both the organization and its affiliates.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Billing of contracts experienced with SEFA and billing the city
  • Prior experience in grants management a plus and/or financial planning and budgeting.
  • Strong forecasting and budget and contract monitoring
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, proactive and self starter

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related fields, MBA preferred.
