Job description
About Us
Cynch is a fast-growing, AI startup on a mission to empower small businesses. We combine reasoning, machine learning, and generative AI to help business owners make better financial decisions. We are a team of experienced AI scientists, engineers, and operators passionate about the financial well-being of individuals and businesses, and we look for people who share that passion.
About the Job
We're looking for a Product Manager to join our team. You will be a foundational member of the product development team at a seed-stage startup, offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to shape the direction of our products and business. You'll collaborate closely with users (our tax and accounting teams), engineers, and designers to create AI-enabled solutions that optimize workflows and enhance service delivery.
Examples of products we've built or are working on include an app to automate document requests to clients, an app to classify and extract data from tax documents, and an app to pre-populate a draft tax return and learn from changes made by tax professionals. And we are just getting started!
What You'll Do
Discover: Meet with users (tax and accounting teams) to develop a deep understanding of our business, identify pain points, and find opportunities for AI to make an impact. Conduct user research and testing to uncover issues and opportunities with our current products.
Define: Propose creative solutions that leverage AI to solve complex problems and optimize tax and accounting workflows. Write detailed product proposals that distill complex ideas into clear, actionable projects. Collaborate with engineering, design, and leadership teams to define the product roadmap.
Deliver: Collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders throughout the product development process to unblock issues, fill gaps, and help ensure successful launches. This could be anything from jumping in on QA to leading training for our tax and accounting teams.
Requirements
Who You Are
Excellent communicator: You are a strong writer who can convey complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner. You know that writing scales and can drive alignment and action through documents.
Empathetic: You always start from the customer's perspective. You have a genuine interest in understanding user needs and ensuring that products address them.
Curious: You have a demonstrated ability to go deep on technical topics and quickly learn new domains (like tax and accounting!). If something doesn't make sense to you, you don't stop asking 'why?' You seek out answers to drive clarity through both rigorous data analysis and customer anecdotes.
Collaborative: You can work effectively across many functions and have a track record of influencing without authority. You can build consensus across a group with differing perspectives.
Problem solver: big, ambiguous problem spaces excite you. You can quickly find the point of leverage in a problem space and work with a multidisciplinary team to identify solutions.
Owner mentality: You're willing to roll up your sleeves and tackle any challenge, even if it's not in your job description. You measure success by outcomes and impact over outputs.
