Job description

Job Summary: The Senior Quality Assurance Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and precision of products manufactured within the machine shop environment. This position involves performing detailed inspections, verifying compliance with specifications, and maintaining adherence to quality standards. The Senior QA Inspector collaborates closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, contributing to the overall efficiency and excellence of the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts and components at various stages of production, utilizing precision measuring instruments and equipment.
2. Verify product dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and other specifications as per engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
3. Identify and document non-conformities, defects, or deviations from quality standards, and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
4. Collaborate with production personnel to address quality issues, provide guidance on corrective measures, and ensure timely resolution.
5. Perform incoming inspections of raw materials, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and specifications.
6. Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including measurements, test data, and inspection reports.
7. Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and quality assurance initiatives.
8. Participate in internal audits and process improvement activities to enhance quality performance and efficiency.
9. Train and mentor junior inspectors on inspection techniques, equipment operation, and quality standards.
10. Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers regarding quality-related matters, including the resolution of quality issues and customer inquiries.
11. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper care and calibration of inspection equipment.
Qualifications:
1. Zeiss CMM and/or Calypso software experience (Required minimum 2yrs exp.)
2. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in quality assurance or related field preferred.
3. 5 years experience as a quality inspector in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of machining processes and metal fabrication techniques.
4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. ASME 14.5Y GD&T is (Required)
5. Experience using a variety of precision measuring instruments and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
6. Knowledge of quality management systems and standards, such as AS9100, and familiarity with inspection techniques and methodologies.
7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify quality issues and discrepancies effectively.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
9. Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use inspection software, Microsoft Office applications, and ERP systems.
10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
11. Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed to support production schedules and quality objectives.
12. Must be able to sit/stand/lift/carry 30lbs during shift.
