Job Description

The Regional Director, Oncology Sales is responsible for representing Gilead's Oncology products and services to a defined customer base., This person is expected to lead and develop their team so that the Region can achieve or exceed regional sales targets. They possess strong analytical, coaching, communications skills, and a proven record of sales success via multiple award recognition. The Regional Director should have the ability to synthesize various market data sources to guide their team in conjunction with national direction and collaborate effectively with cross functional matrix partners.

This unique opportunity supports the Eastern Coastal geography. The region consists of Charlotte, Richmond, Charleston, and Virginia Beach. As Regional Director, this person will:

  • Demonstrate proven experience in leading and developing a team by enhancing their selling skills, creating strong thought partnership, and emphasizing customer focus.
  • Have a proven track record of success in all respects of selling, i.e., technical knowledge, selling techniques, interpreting/analyzing data, and in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical industry.
  • Set performance expectations and reinforce measures of sales effectiveness (i.e., adherence to strategy, tactical implementation, program planning, proper use of funds, reach and frequency on targets, etc.) at the regional level to deliver against corporate sales objectives.
  • Play a key role in leading cross-functional strategic account planning efforts for key regional accounts and is expected to engage regularly with HCPs in a compliant manner within region.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Gilead's ongoing Inclusion & Diversity efforts. Exercise judgment, integrity, and equitable management practices necessary to guide the day-to-day activities of a diverse cross-section of individuals.
  • Have a proven ability to partner strategically and work collaboratively with cross-functional partners across many distinct functions to ensure product and organizational growth. E.g., Marketing, Medical Affairs, Managed Markets, Commercial Operations, Human Resources, and Legal.
  • Utilize a high level of business acumen in analyzing and coordinating activities from identified industry trends, competitors' resources, and practices.
  • Understand and provide guidance on relevant human resource management issues, and demonstrate the capability to navigate complex people management issues.
  • Ensure all department personnel are fully informed of, and in compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy, all applicable federal and state laws and guidance relating to product promotion and information dissemination including, but not limited to, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Food and Drug Administration's implementing regulations, the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the False Claims Act, PhRMA, Corporate Code of Business Conduct and the Office of the Inspector General's Compliance Program Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers

Basic Qualifications:

High School Degree and Sixteen Years' Experience

OR

Associates Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years' Experience

OR

Ph.D. and Eight Years' Experience
  • Ability to engage in such travel as may be reasonably required, including regular travel within the assigned area (and, to the extent applicable, satisfaction of any requirements associated with such travel).
  • Satisfaction of any onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners within assigned area, if applicable (which may include but not be limited to, by way of example, vaccinations, drug and background screenings, and any other requirements that may be adopted by certain healthcare practitioners)
  • To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Valid driver's license is required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 12 years of relevant commercial experience in marketing, sales, or related commercial function
  • 8 years of progressive oncology experience
  • 4 years of oncology leadership as a District Manager (1st line sales leader)
  • Proven successful experience in Oncology product launches.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to set a vision, lead through change, and coach/mentor.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate, develop and execute strategy and manage teams.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, disciplines, and across functions.
  • Must have an executive presence with the ability to command respect through the exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making.
  • Excellent communications skills both orally and in writing

    The salary range for this position is: $201,025.00 - $260,150.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
