Job description

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of the plant, ensuring that all equipment and machinery are functioning at optimal levels to support production demands. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.

My client is a leading manufacturer within the CPG industry in Thousand Oaks area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control and management, with experience in the cosmetic industry.

Description

  • Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair
    • Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean, safe, and in good & hygienic condition
    • Implement workplace safety policies and standards
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to schedule and execute repairs, upgrades, and installations.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, inventory of critical and spare parts, tools and components
  • Maintenance Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy to ensure reliable equipment performance, includes identifying opportunities to improve processes and equipment reliability, and that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Create and maintain a preventative maintenance program to minimize equipment downtime and maximize uptime and operating efficiencies.
    • Plan and schedule all areas of maintenance activities - downtime calls, preventive maintenance, set-up, installations
    • Plan and schedule all facility activities of the business' grounds, buildings, and offices to ensure the upkeep, maintenance, repairs, and installations for the site
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop long-term maintenance plans and budgets.
  • Team Leadership and Management:
    • Supervise and support a team of maintenance technicians, and mechanics, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
    • Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
    • Hire, train, and evaluate maintenance team members, and provide guidance and training
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards related to maintenance and facility operations.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for maintenance and facility staff.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
    • Evaluate maintenance contracts and service agreements to optimize vendor relationships and negotiable favorable terms.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and energy efficiency to reduce operational costs.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Profile

  • Proven experience in a middle to upper management role in maintenance operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of maintenance best practices, equipment and systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing maintenance team.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols.
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems or similar software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
