Nurse Educator - Emergency Department

Location: Torrance, CA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a leading medical center in Torrance, CA to recruit a dedicated and passionate Nurse Educator for their Emergency Department (ED). This is a crucial role that involves developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff in the fast-paced and dynamic environment of the ED.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the education team and ED leadership to develop and implement comprehensive educational programs, including orientation, competency assessment, and ongoing training for ED nurses.

Instruction and Facilitation: Deliver engaging and interactive educational sessions using a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, simulations, case studies, and hands-on training.

Needs Assessment: Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted educational interventions to address knowledge and skill gaps.

Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through data collection and analysis, and continuously improve programs based on feedback and outcomes.

Mentorship and Support: Serve as a resource and mentor to ED nursing staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

Evidence-Based Practice: Promote the use of evidence-based practices and research to enhance the quality of care in the ED.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the education team, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve shared goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Advanced study in an area of clinical specialization. Coursework in adult education principles and performance improvement/research methodology.

Licensure: Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License.

Certification: Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.

Experience:

3 years of acute hospital experience in the Emergency Department.

1 year of experience in adult education or patient/family education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Nursing or current enrollment in a Master's Degree program.

Within 2 years of hire: Nursing specialty certification (e.g., CEN - Certified Emergency Nurse).
