Job Description

We're excited to announce a fantastic full-time, long-term opportunity for a Special Education Behavior Aide starting in August for the 2024/2025 school year! This position is ideal for those passionate about working with K-12 students in the North Coastal region.

Role Overview:

As a Behavior Aide/Paraprofessional, you'll support classroom teachers by working with special education students, both individually and in small groups, to improve their academic experience. Your role will be instrumental in helping these students grow and succeed.

  • Competitive hourly rate of $21-$24, paid weekly
  • Consistent Monday to Friday schedule
  • No weekend work required
  • Typical hours: 8am to 2:30/3pm, for a total of 30-35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavioral Support:Implement and manage behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), provide positive reinforcement, and use de-escalation techniques as necessary.
  • Individualized Support:Provide personalized support to special education students, tailoring materials and strategies to their unique learning and behavioral needs.
  • Classroom Assistance:Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviors, fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and encouraging student participation.
  • Data Collection:Record and maintain detailed data on student progress, behaviors, and interventions to support the special education team.
  • Communication:Build and maintain effective communication with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure cohesive and consistent support for students.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience working with children

Preferred:

  • Experience with special education, particularly with moderate to severe behaviors
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
