QUALIFICATION

  • First Aid / CPR certifications required
  • Maintain a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
  • Completed and submitted BSD on-line application.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.   • Provide emergency health care and first aid to the sick and injured at the schools.
  • Document disposition of students entering Health Office. Maintain daily log and documentation on all school health related matters. Maintain confidentiality of all matters.
  • Administer medications with knowledge of action and side effects.
  • Observe students for health needs and record their visits. Inform staff, parents, principal, and District administrators as needed.
  • Review health records and health information sheets and contact parents for further information. Compile a list of health concerns and distribute to staff members and district nurse.
  • Communicate with district nurses, teachers, counselors, parents, students, principals, and community members to ensure the health and safety of all students. Collaborate with the school's parent partner to refer students and families to community resources.
  • Establish and maintain student health and immunization records and make referrals as needed. Record results of health screenings, rescreen as needed, and inform staff and parents of results.
  • Implement health action care plans of students, and consult with parents, staff, and district nurse as needed.
  • Participate in workshops and in-service classes that promote professional growth and increase health field knowledge.
  • Develop and participate in activities that promote healthy lifestyles for school and community
  • Organize and perform routine health screening, including vision, hearing, blood pressure, height, and weight exams annually and as needed. Refer as needed to proper agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and community.
  • Follow State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures.
  • Inspire and work collaboratively with staff members and the community.
  • Commit to the district vision of Each Student, Each Day: Wolverine Way.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Higher nursing certification preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR training prior to hire.

  • First Aid / CPR certifications required
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EQUIPMENT
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., PowerSchool, Word, Excel, Google).
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
  • Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

SALARY
$150.00 per day

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and frequently required to walk and must be able to stand up frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee frequently communicates through speech.
