Job description
JOB SUMMARY The Linux Engineer II supports The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex-Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) system, referred to as CCIC2S, provides timely, unambiguous, continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile and space threats to North America, and geographical theaters. The Linux Engineer will evaluate and support the current CCIC2S Architecture and Subsystems, Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) data on the Enterprise Workstation and Processing and Display Subsystem - Migration (PDS-M) while leveraging the Non-Traditional Source - Processing and Display (NTS-PD) sub-system within the CCIC2S boundary. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Provide highly skilled Systems Administration/Integration to support complex Linux environments
Administer/update/troubleshoot air warning, missile warning & space defense systems development/test environments
Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
Set up and manage Linux and Windows systems, applications and environments and ensuring those systems comply with government security standards
Builds, configures, troubleshoots, and integrates new and existing servers to provide service enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades
Set up administrator and service accounts; maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space
Troubleshooting network hardware and software applications, OS upgrades, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services
Responsible for monitoring performance, system usage, and back-up and recovery Storage appliances and configurations; VMware and the ability to analyze and optimize
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), agile system development, and DevSecOps Implementing patches, scanning, remediating findings, auditing
Supports operating system patching in compliance with security policy and procedures
Support software deployments to customer sites; Ensures lab configuration management
Manage tickets and resolution of issues identified by lab users QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with customer site installations, and experience with both RedHat and Windows system administration
Monitoring system performance
Installing upgrades and advising on system upgrades
IAM Level 2
Experience in Systems Administration of complex applications on Unix/Linux platforms
Linux/Unix system administration including installing and configuring systems from the OS level up
Experience with Information Assurance policies and procedures and the ability to apply IA requirements to an existing system, experience with applying group policies from Active Directory environment impacting Linux OS
Ability to write scripts in Perl, bash shell and Expect languages or equivalent Configuring, analyze, and troubleshoot clustered and virtual Oracle (Sun) and Linux-based servers
Technical aptitude and ability to administer Network services including Active Directory, LDAP, Radius, NPS
Understanding of network services including DNS, DHCP, NPS and relation to Linux Operating Systems
Server support including Linux and VMWare
Linux IPA including LDAP, DNS, Kerberos, addressing any directory services requirements
Filesystem management on large fiber-channel RAID storage arrays, Linux kernel config and tuning
Customization of Linux servers for use with large RAID disk arrays
Skills/understanding of Microsoft server and OS products that connect and support Linux based systems
Experience with VMWare installation and configuration and Systems Administration of ESXi hosts, deploying and configuring VMware vCenter, configuring virtual storage using ISCSI and NFS storage EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: Associate or bachelor's Degree (BA/BS Engineering, Computer Science, or Math); or equivalent combination of education and experience REQUIRED
DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher or ability to obtain within 6 months is required.
