Job description
RiverTech, an Akima company has a position for a Network Administrator to support Network Administration Services (iPERMS) providing network administration service, network configuration, operation, and network maintenance for the Fort Carson Network Management System in support of the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS) program. This position is located on base at Fort Carson, Colorado. Responsibilities Analyzes LAN utilization statistics through data collection and performance measures of classified and unclassified networks.
Operates and maintains the network architecture for both Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) C4IM classification domains
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and fine-tunes components such as switches, routers, encryption devices, 802.11 controller, antennas and access points, 802.16 antennas, firewalls, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) concentrators within the overall network connectivity. Operate and maintain the Layer 3 and Layer 2 environment with knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and TACLANE operating platforms
Monitors and maintains operational capability and security standards on network management systems to include Tivoli NetCool, InfoVista, BMC BladeLogic Network Automation, Cisco Prime, Cisco Identity Services Engine, Juniper JUNOS Space, NetScout InfiniStream, Cisco Security Manager, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and other related NMS operating systems
Tests network systems to ensure current network software products are compatible with system configurations and to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards
Monitors operation of the WLAN, LAN and WAN, ensuring hardware and network operating software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met
Performs function tests of systems components to identify and resolve technical problems, analyze system malfunctions, implement necessary corrective actions, and provide ongoing support for the resolution of complex problems and operating malfunction
Performs system backups to ensure expedient restoration of the database for the respective network equipment
Configure, monitor, install, patch, and harden network systems according to DoD security directives
Develops documentation to assist the Government with best business practice and standard operating procedures for supported technologies and system deployments
Complies with plans, policies, standards, infrastructures, and architectures of DOD and DA IT Management and IT programs
Performs and maintains security remediation, IAVAs, STIG requirements etc. All IAVAs, STIGs, etc., will be considered high priorities and shall be completed within timelines assigned
Reviews, validates information, and performs corrections as needed for all checklists and controls referring to Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI)and Risk Management Framework (RMF) quarterly
Configures, troubleshoots, and analyzes technologies such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, spanning tree protocols e.g.; MSTP, RSTP, 802.1x, 802.11, 802.16, VPN, DMVPN, SDN, VRRP/HSRP, WAN Acceleration, QoS, VoIP, VTC and similar network technologies. (Refer to paragraph 2.2, acronym list)
Provides or extends network connectivity within the guidelines of the Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Information Management (C4IM) Services, to a location within Fort Carson RNEC and LNECs. This may require some lifting of weight up to 50lbs of equipment and moderate physical work like placing stakes in the ground utilizing a hammer
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and fine-tunes connection between Fort Knox, KY and Fort Carson, CO to support rapid system failover for operational risk mitigation of the iPERMS COOP to include support for specialized WAN optimization appliances
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and fine-tunes SIPRnet connection between Fort Carson, CO and Fort Knox, KY in support of the iPERMS program
All of the above requirements will be assigned through the AESD ticketing system consisting of approximately 30 work orders/trouble tickets averaged per month and support the Government in the requirements definition, design, development and implementation phases for approximately five to ten network projects per month
All network projects will be completed by the suspense date assigned on the ticket Qualifications Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Minimum one (1) year related experience in network administration with demonstrated experience in network management, troubleshooting, network device configuration, operations, maintenance
Minimum SECRET clearance required
Minimum DOD 8570.01-M IAT II Certified in at least ONE of the following certifications at time of hire: IAT Level II Certifications: -Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP. Please note IAT Level III Certifications (Also Acceptable): -CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, or GCIC
Obtain the following certification within 6 months of hire: Juniper Network Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP)
Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions audio-visual equipment weighing up to 75 lbs. - Frequently bends, kneels and crouches during computer system equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, assembly/ disassembly, installation/de-installation, and sustainment
May be required to drive vehicle if needed to perform tasks at Fort Carson, CO.
