SUMMARY PM MC provides integrated system-of-system solutions to Army and Joint warfighters, whose products include computer hardware, software, communications and network management infrastructure. The Mission Command Support Center (MCSC), under PM MC, is an integral part of the Program Executive Office - Command, Control, & Communications-Tactical (PEO-C3T) capability portfolio, providing a centralized capability to deploy, integrate, monitor, test, manage, modernize, evaluate and sustain fielded and enterprise-hosted MC capabilities. The MCSC mission is one of constant change and adaptation, always responding to enable deployment of new capabilities, while assuring current capabilities are at an optimal state of readiness throughout globally deployed and networked assets. The MCSC is a central hub for the management of all MCSC satellite networks, and also has requirements to integrate, test and operate emerging SATCOM networks as they become available to the force (e.g. Iridium or MUOS). The MCSC SATCOM Services Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and administration of the BFT-1 and BFT-2 networks. This position is responsible for monitoring, Tier I and Tier II diagnostics support, and escalation of operational issues including triage and information gathering for support resources and establishment of communications. This includes hardware and applications and will leverage standard and custom tools and techniques to identify solutions to system and client issues. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Monitor networks, servers and applications using custom and industry standard tools. • Serve as an initial responder within the NOC in notifying, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving systems issues. • Assess the need to and efficiently escalate incidents to Tier III Engineering support. Perform regular system maintenance and provide oversight on all maintenance on the network. • Effectively communicate situation reports to team counterparts ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. • Employ a proprietary ticketing system to log troubleshooting, network events, and maintenance, updating and resolving open tickets as required. • Perform routine and on-demand technical procedures, according to standard protocols. QUALIFICATIONS Required Certifications • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an Interim Secret clearance. • Must be able to obtain an IAT-II certification within the first 90 days of hire. Education, Background, and Years of Experience • 1+ years of experience in a NOC or technical helpdesk environment. • BS or BA preferred but not required. ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills • Linux experience with basic ability in the Linux command line interface environment. • Working knowledge of satellite communications baseband, network management, and modem systems equipment, including VSAT, highly preferred. • Must have working knowledge of Linux operating systems and Microsoft Office products. • Must be able to work flexible shifts as necessary in support of 24/7/365 operations. Preferred Skills • Self-starter with a high level of personal accountability. • Ability to prioritize incoming tasks according to criticality. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions • Standard Office Environment Strength Demands • Light - 20 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
