Job description

Our client is a heavy civil construction company specializing in bridge construction, bridge restoration, roadway rehabilitation, water/wastewater treatment plants, concrete bridge overlays, concrete paving, and alternative delivery projects, including design-build, CMGC, CMAR, and progressive design-build throughout Colorado and California.


They are currently looking for a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator to work out of their Brighton, Colorado office. This person will report to the Colorado Area Manager and Chief Estimator in Sacramento. The Senior Heavy Civil Estimator will be responsible for all estimating activities for the Colorado office with support from the California estimating team. The ideal candidate knows CDOT specs, can think outside the box, understands multi-staged construction projects, is detail-oriented, and has experience in heavy civil construction. Strong relationships with local subcontractors and material suppliers are essential.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide full estimating services on large, complex heavy civil construction projects.
  • Prepare project estimates to ensure all factors are properly considered, priced, and included in the estimate summary.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations.
  • Conduct constructability studies.
  • Research services for methods, costs, and construction techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years of estimating.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with HCSS/HeavyBid.
  • Experience with alternative delivery projects such as Design-Build, CMGC, and CMAR.
