Senior Revenue Accountant

Location: Downtown Denver
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite

About Our Client:

Our client is a fast-paced, results-oriented, high-growth start-up. As they continue to grow, they are looking for a dedicated Senior Revenue Accountant to join their team. This is an exciting new role that will be critical to ensuring accurate revenue accounting and alignment with the company's evolving needs.

Role Overview:

The Senior Revenue Accountant will be a key player in the month-end close process, responsible for overseeing non-energy-related revenue streams. As the company's revenue becomes more complex, this role will be tasked with reviewing how revenue flows from start to finish, understanding and documenting processes, and ensuring accurate revenue recognition.

This position will require digging deep into existing processes, talking to various teams, and building out new documentation and systems to support growth. You'll collaborate closely with different departments and will help segment the team by revenue stream to identify and resolve issues earlier in the month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Close: Lead and be integral to the month-end close process for non-energy revenue streams.
  • Revenue Flow Review: Map out the complete revenue flow, identify gaps, and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Process Improvement: Assess current processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements. Ensure processes are documented clearly and consistently.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to understand different revenue streams, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Public Company Focus: Assist in the transition to a more public company-oriented revenue process, keeping compliance top of mind.
  • Segmentation & Monitoring: Help segment the revenue team by stream for better tracking, allowing for earlier identification of issues throughout the month.
  • Data Analysis: Handle large datasets from multiple sources using advanced Excel functions to support decision-making and reporting.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Revenue & COGS Knowledge: Deep understanding of revenue and cost of goods sold, particularly in complex, multi-stream environments.
  • Process Orientation: Proven track record of reviewing, improving, and documenting processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to identify issues, solve problems, and implement long-term solutions with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficient in XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and handling large volumes of transactions from multiple sources.
  • Systems Knowledge: NetSuite experience is a huge plus.
  • Accounting Standards: Experience with ASC606 is highly preferred.

What You Bring:

  • A proven ability to understand revenue flows, from start to finish.
  • Experience building knowledge and processes while managing tight deadlines.
  • A process-driven mindset and strong accountability.
  • The ability to work independently, learn quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a fast-growing, cash-positive start-up with a bright future.
  • Work in a high-energy, results-oriented environment where your contributions directly impact the company's success.
  • Opportunity to grow professionally and take on more responsibilities as the company scales.
