Job description

The postdoctoral researcher will work in collaboration with Dr. Ben Gadomski of the Orthopaedic Bio-engineering Research Laboratory (OBRL), and Dr. Jeremiah Easley of the Preclinical Surgical Research Laboratory (PSRL) to create and commercialize injectable and implantable regenerative therapies for osteoarthritis (OA). This individual will also engage in multi-disciplinary research regarding preclinical testing of orthopaedic implants and other therapies. This position will also summarize findings and publish research results in journals and present findings at scientific meetings and conferences.
Candidates with a demonstrated research background in preclinical orthopaedic device development, cellular science, implantable regenerative therapies and FDA regulatory guidance are encouraged to apply.

Specifically, experience with the following is desired: Orthopaedics engineering research
FDA Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) techniques
Preclinical animal models
Cellular therapeutics
Large animal preclinical orthopaedic device evaluation
Implantable regenerative therapies for osteoarthritis

Required Job Qualifications
Must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or documentation of completion of Ph.D. requirements in a related field by the position start date.
Experience and training to work in a Good Laboratory Practice environment focused on preclinical testing.
Experience in bio-mechanical testing of biological tissues.
Experience in computational engineering practices such as Abaqus, Ansys, and Minitab.
Experience in preclinical study design.
Experience in preclinical orthopaedic device evaluation.
Experience with cellular therapeutics.
Experience with cellular tissue engineering including mammalian cell culture, stem cell differentiation, DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR, and ELISA.
Proficiency in scientific research process.
Experience working on federally-funding research studies, with particular value on ARPA-H experience.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience with commercialize injectable and implantable regenerative therapies.
Authored and co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Evidence of successful student mentoring in research.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Matlab.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis techniques used in preclinical studies.
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams spanning multiple departments and/or backgrounds.
