SNC is on the lookout for a seasoned Systems Engineer with a specialization in IR sensor systems to spearhead the design, integration, and validation of a cutting-edge sensor mission system on an airborne platform. In this dynamic role, you will engage in the full lifecycle of these systems, from initial concept development, lab verification analysis and testing, to the culmination of the deployment of qualified flight hardware. You will collaborate with diverse, cross-disciplinary teams, oversee supplier subcontracts, manage system requirements, and deliver a revolutionary imaging solution that meets stringent performance, safety, and military certification standards. Access to walking and biking trails Responsibilities: System Design and Architecture for IR Sensor Systems: Oversee the design and architecture of infrared sensor systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and objectives.
Requirements Management: Effectively manage system requirements throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with stakeholder needs.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including software, electrical, and optical engineers.
System Integration and Testing: Lead the integration and testing phases to ensure seamless functionality and performance of the sensor systems in both laboratory and final integration.
Compliance and Reliability: Ensure that all systems comply with relevant standards and certifications, and are reliable under operational conditions.
ICD Creation: Develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to clearly define system interfaces.
Support in Performance Analysis: Assist in the analysis of system performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure optimal operation.
Defining Sensor Interfaces: Define and manage sensor interfaces to ensure compatibility and integration with other system components.
Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Must-haves: Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
5+ years of experience with EO/IR systems to include requirements development and allocation, architecture definition, as well as laboratory and field testing.
Knowledge of optical imaging system components (lenses, sensors, sensor and image processing electronics, etc.) and their characterization
Experience with integration and certification of sensors or other systems onto airborne platforms
Ability to decompose complex systems into functional parts, with clearly defined interfaces and requirements for each
Experience in system design and development from initial concept through test and delivery to customer
Experience in product schedule, cost, delivery, and supplier management
Experience with the design, build and testing of calibrated Infrared Imaging systems for military applications. Specifically Preferred: Strong knowledge and experience with radiometric modeling
Knowledge of image processing techniques
Advanced proficiency in an analytical toolchains/languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
Model development and validation relevant to EO/IR remote sensing
Strong laboratory skills (e.g. design of experiments)
Experience with image processing techniques for EO/IR sensors
Experience with MBSE techniques (e.g. Cameo, SysML, etc)
Experience with signature and/or scenario modeling/software packages (MODTRAN, SPIRITS, AFSIM)
Knowledge of the OMS/UCI standard
Experience with missions system environmental qualification
Knowledge of Agile dev process and tools like JIRA Estimated Starting Salary Range: $120,552.10 - $165,759.14.
