Responsibilities/Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Power Management Technician installs, maintains, and repairs both critical and base building power systems within company premises. Works with Security for monitoring of Critical Systems, Facilities for general power distribution needs (lighting, outlets, low voltage), and with Data Center Operations for specialized electrical needs. Plans electrical upgrades and changes for Data Center, labs, office, and production equipment, working toward improved reliability, economy of operation, efficiency in energy consumption, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Critical Power Infrastructure
    • Oversee the operation and scheduled maintenance of Generators, UPS, Transfer switch and PDU's supporting critical systems
      • On Call 24/7: Response to alarms requiring immediate attention, power outages with redundancy equipment failure, etc.
      • Daily: Review Operational and Alarm Logs
      • Weekly: Onsite observation of Generator test cycle to verify functionality, remote evaluation for Montreal systems
      • Monthly: Check Generator fuel and fluid levels, evaluate PDU load capacity and distribution of circuits for balanced phasing
      • Semi-annual: Oversee vendor preventive maintenance schedules
      • Annual: Budget assistance and process preventive maintenance contracts
  • General Electrical Infrastructure
    • Install, remove, maintain basic electrical components as needed
    • Alterations based on construction design documentation
    • Assist in maintaining wiring for low voltage Security systems
  • Assist Facilities team in general repairs and projects as needed

Knowledge & Application

As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways.

Complexity & Problem Solving

Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.

Collaboration & Interaction

Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May be informal team leader.

Requirement:

5+ years as Journeyman Electrician preferred, proficient in critical power systems (Generator, UPS, ATS).

The starting salary is anticipated between $72,000 and $90,000 to start and will be commensurate with experience.
