Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope following detailed instructions. Performs an assortment of complex engineering duties such as the planning of manufacturing and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus. Provides existing support to activities in the use of electrical devices and energy for commercial, domestic, and industrial use. Design and develop electronics and circuits. Perform product testing and create models and prototypes. Develop and document electronic schematics for products. Performs a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities, and machinery used in generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumption. Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to augment production size and value. May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff. May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: Must BE ABLE TO OBTAIN and maintain a Top Secret clearance. BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2 Excellent documentation skills, including the preparation of Test Procedures & Reports, Interface Control Documents, and ECOs. Extensive experience in prototype development, debug, and test in a lab environment. Familiarity with various communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN). Proficiency in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design, troubleshooting, and an excellent grasp of EE principles. Experience in system and sub-system testing including test design, procedure definitions, procurement, assembly, execution, analysis & reporting Knowledge of cable and wire harness design Experience with flight hardware safety protocols such as Electrostatic Discharge, clean room practices and critical lifting operations Ability to travel to support meetings with customer and potential testing Ability to work in a tight-knit team environment as well as self-driven for independent tasks Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with space flight hardware Assembly, Integration and Test Experience with satellite electrical system concepts such as power and energy budgets, telemetry, flight software controls, and electronics thermal management. Experience with spacecraft command and control systems, simulators, software test benches, and other electrical ground support equipment Strong understanding of the subsystems required in a spacecraft electrical system. Background in RF communication subsystem and/or component design including antennas, with a solid foundation in RF principles. Knowledge of battery-based power systems, including power management, power switching, charging, and battery safety. Familiarity with DSP and microcontroller firmware development in C. Familiarity with design analysis and simulation tools (WCA/WCCA, Reliability, Radiation, Spice). Understanding of signal and power integrity (SI/PI). Familiarity with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Equal Pay Act This is the projected compensation range for this position.
