Position Overview:
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will be instrumental in driving the company's expansion by managing and improving the procurement process. Your responsibilities will include vendor negotiations, relationship building, strategic planning, and ensuring cost-effective procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have strong procurement experience, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives, emphasizing cost reduction, quality, and timely deliveries.
- Procurement Oversight: Manage the full procurement process, from sourcing to final delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Vendor Negotiation: Identify and negotiate with vendors and trade partners to secure optimal pricing and terms.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and partners to guarantee high-quality products and services.
- Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to identify new suppliers, evaluate their offerings, and negotiate contracts that fit the company's needs.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor procurement metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and quality, to drive improvements.
- Process Improvement: Continuously look for ways to enhance the procurement process, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Subcontractor Onboarding: Manage the onboarding of subcontractors, ensuring that requirements are clearly communicated and followed.
- Logistics Coordination: Oversee logistics and shipping activities to ensure the timely arrival of shipments, both domestic and international.
- Inventory Management: Use MRP systems to maintain optimal inventory levels and coordinate monthly counts with the CFO and Regional VP of Operations.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure that all procurement activities are in line with company policies and industry regulations, providing regular updates to the Regional VP of Operations.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience in the construction industry).
- Certifications: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPPM, CPM, CPSM, or PMP) preferred.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes and ERP systems like SAP or similar platforms.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a plus.
- Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- OSHA Certification: OSHA 30 certification preferred.
