Job Description

We are looking for a Severe Special Needs Teacher in the Denver Area. As a Severe Special Needs Teacher you will support children in the classroom and gain exposure to schools and invaluable experience.

As a collaborative member of the Special Education team, this person will be responsible for teaching, evaluating and implementing programming for severe significant needs students utilizing inclusion practices whenever possible; have working knowledge of effective behavior techniques and Autism instruction and intervention; consult with Special and Regular Education teams; daily collects and tracks student academic and behavior data; performs continuous management of caseload, i.e. IEP documents and meetings, parent communication, behavior plans, trains and supervises paraprofessional staff in one on one instruction of students; meets professional obligations as determined by district and site.

In this role, you will be able to grow your experience and relationships with multiple schools and gain exposure to a broad range of teaching styles and behavior management principles. This role comes with a competitive daily rate between $200 - $220 per day, paid weekly. With this role, there is no requirement to work weekends, and will be on a schedule Monday to Friday week, within hours of 7:30 - 3:30/ 4:00. This position is for the school year starting August 19, 2024 - June 12, 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • As a teacher you would be expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • You would maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Teachers are responsible for managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Our teachers are integral parts of their school and the school community, performing certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • You are challenged with new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment. You would plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Documents health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.
  • You would utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Special Education
  • Colorado Special Education Certification
  • Would need to obtain or have the following Colorado READ Act certification
  • Pass a background check before the hiring date
  • Applicants must have professional proficiency in English
