Description
In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer will:
- Work directly with Suppliers and ensure the top product quality by conducting audits and visiting suppliers (10%-20%)
- Conduct studies on measurement system variation, devise plans for product inspection, and lead teams involved in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), organizing Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
- Utilize industry standards and specifications to enhance, audit, and maintain control over product quality, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
- Facilitate the implementation of novel methods and systems, collaborating with manufacturing and inspection staff to provide necessary training for acquiring essential skills in utilizing these innovations.
- Manage the coordination of a statistical process control system, ensuring its effective operation.
- Supervise the daily functioning of the Quality Management System, making adjustments or modifications as necessary to enhance quality and reduce costs through the implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Collaborate with Project Engineers to oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including the development of PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP documentation.
Profile
The successful Supplier Quality Engineer will have:
- Possession of a degree in Engineering or a related field (B.S./A.S.) and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in roles involving quality control, quality assurance, or manufacturing.
- In-depth understanding of quality systems, encompassing familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO9001, AS9100, and proficiency in managing Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
- Practical hands-on experience in both machining operations and inspection processes.
- Proficient knowledge in gage calibration, Statistical Process Control (SPC), geometric tolerancing, inspection methods, Material Review Board (MRB) procedures, corrective action resolution, first article inspection, and other related areas.
- Capable of leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
- Proven expertise in utilizing statistical process control systems, conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies, and conducting thorough root cause investigations.
