Purpose of Your Licensed Practical Nurse LPN Job Position

The primary purpose of your position as a Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN in the Nursing Home environment is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and other nursing personnel. To monitor the performance of CNAs, nursing and non-licensed personnel, Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN provide education and counseling, perform disciplinary action as necessary, and complete performance evaluations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assesses patients by physical examination, including pertinent diagnostic testing to determine health status.

Administers medications and treatments.

Participates in the care planning process.

Supervises LPNs and certified nursing assistants.

Communicates with physicians regarding changes in resident's conditions, diagnostic test results, etc.

Documents assessments and care in compliance with standards of care and company policy.

Educates patients and their families on health-related issues.

Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.

Requirements of Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN

Must possess current Connecticut Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN license
