Job description

Assistant Controller

Join a dynamic, growth-focused team where your expertise in accounting and financial management will make a direct impact! As an Assistant Controller, you will be integral in managing the accounting records and financial statements for various investment entities, corporations, and partnerships. You'll have a unique opportunity to contribute to key financial processes, from treasury support to tax return preparation, within an innovative, forward-thinking team setting. We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement, empowering you to balance in-office collaboration with remote work.

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Be part of a collaborative, service-oriented team that values your input and ideas.
  • Use your accounting expertise to support diverse financial entities.
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you thrive in both your professional and personal life.
  • Opportunities for growth as we continue to develop our family office environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
  • Experience: 7+ years in a CPA firm or similar environment with hands-on experience in financial statement preparation. Family Office experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in financial analysis, tax workpaper preparation, and communication with diverse stakeholders (Family Office management, investment teams, external accountants, and legal professionals).
  • Technology: Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and familiarity with general ledger software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or SEI Archway).
  • Mindset: You are proactive, detail-oriented, and always looking for ways to improve processes. You bring a positive, service-driven attitude to everything you do!

What You'll Do:

Accounting and Financial Reporting:

  • Transition financial records from QuickBooks Online to tax-basis accounting and assist in implementing new software.
  • Collaborate with the Direct Investments team to ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
  • Play a key role in building robust internal controls around payments and cash management.
  • Manage bill payments, cash entries, and bank reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements and entity cash projections, offering valuable insights to the CFO for strategic decision-making.

Tax Compliance & Planning:

  • Drive the process of preparing tax workpapers and communicating with external accounting firms.
  • Review draft tax returns and assist in managing quarterly tax estimates and payments.
  • Ensure real estate tax payments for entity-owned properties are timely and accurately managed.

Other Financial Services:

  • Coordinate capital calls and cash transfers, ensuring timely cash movements and adherence to processes.
  • Assist family members with personal financial transactions as needed.

Development & Administration:

  • Play an active role in improving internal processes and efficiencies as we continue to grow.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive family and financial information with care and discretion.
  • Be adaptable and open to supporting various aspects of the family office as new needs arise.

Why Join Us? We are not just looking for someone to fill a role-we are seeking a driven professional who is passionate about creating value, improving processes, and being part of an organization that thrives on trust and collaboration. If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding position where your contributions will be valued, we'd love to meet you!
