Klingberg is a private non-profit multi service agency who provides help to thousands of people across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, sever family problems and mental health issues.

Function:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Clinical Services and the Outpatient Clinic Coordinator, the Therapist plans, implements, and monitors psychotherapy and related services for assigned children and their families within models of treatment consistent with Klingberg Family Centers' policies and the procedures and practice standards of the Outpatient Clinic for Children and Families; documents progress in treatment for each child and family; provides accurate and timely case data required for third party billing.

Typical Duties Include:

Carries a differentiated caseload involving routine, urgent, and emergent cases often involving complex and difficult clinical situations requiring intensive clinical services and extensive professional diagnostic and treatment experience.

Provides crisis services, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, case management, and other related therapeutic services as clinically indicated.

Maintains flexible availability for in-school services and provides these services to clients during school hours. Maintains a schedule that includes school operation hours and evening hours as needed. Scheduled work hours are arranged with the appropriate program manager.

Performs intake interviews, which include the gathering of information about the client's symptoms, behavior, functioning, history, needs, goals and preferences.

Obtains necessary releases and consents, and advises client's about their rights and responsibilities.

Provides clinical consultation and technical guidance to other professional staff.

Participates in staff consultations for the purpose of case presentation and diagnostic and treatment planning for clients.

Participates in weekly, mandatory program staff meetings. Maintains clinical records in a timely manner as required by agency, state or federal funding sources and accreditation authorities.

Completes all required forms and maintains same in a manner consistent with requirements.

Spends at least 60% (or other percentage established by program manager and director) of scheduled work hours providing direct billable services to clients and their families.

Participates in trainings/workshops related to child and family therapy, evidenced-based practices and in expanding knowledge base in child mental health.

Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor, manager, director and/or executive staff.

Makes referrals to and collaborates with psychiatric, psychological, medical and legal professionals as needed.

Works collaboratively with DCF and other legal/social service agencies involved with the client and family.

Abides by the ethical and professional standards appropriate to the therapist's professional discipline (e.g. NASW, AAMFT, APA).

Education/Experience requirements:

Master's Degree in related area (M.S.W., M.F.T), appropriate current certification/licenses. 2-4 years supervised experience in an outpatient treatment setting preferred. Works a flexible, 40 hours per week schedule including evening hours.
