Location: New London, CT
Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours
Compensation: Up to $32/hour

Job Description: The Nonprofit Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit accounting, specifically in fund accounting and grant management. As a Nonprofit Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring that our organization's financial health supports our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately by the Nonprofit Accountant.
  • Reconcile accounts, ensuring that restricted and unrestricted funds are properly allocated.
  • As a Nonprofit Accountant, track and manage grant funding, ensuring compliance with all donor and grant requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports related to grant activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and monitor actual versus budgeted spending, a crucial role for the Nonprofit Accountant.
  • Process payroll and reconcile related accounts, another key task for the Nonprofit Accountant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably as a Nonprofit Accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting principles, GAAP, and grants management.
