Position Summary:
The Subcontractor Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of subcontractors on a construction site. This role involves ensuring that subcontracted work is performed according to project specifications, safety standards, and within the set schedule. The Subcontractor Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, Construction Superintendent, and other site supervisors to ensure seamless coordination and execution of subcontractor tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage subcontractors on-site to ensure their work aligns with project requirements, specifications, and timelines. Address any issues or conflicts that arise with subcontractors promptly.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Construction Superintendent to create and manage daily and weekly schedules for subcontractors, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and in the correct sequence.
- Monitor the quality of work performed by subcontractors, ensuring it meets or exceeds project standards and specifications. Conduct regular inspections and ensure that any deficiencies are corrected promptly.
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting completed tasks, upcoming work, and any potential delays or issues.
- Identify and resolve any issues that arise on-site related to subcontractor performance, materials, or schedule conflicts. Work with subcontractors to develop solutions that keep the project on track.
- Maintain accurate records of subcontractor activities, including work progress, safety incidents, inspections, and communications. Ensure all documentation is organized and accessible for future reference.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
- Familiarity with building codes, permits, and industry standards.
