Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer Technician is responsible for supporting the engineering team in designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes. This role involves setting up equipment, running tests, troubleshooting, and ensuring that manufacturing processes operate efficiently. The technician will also assist with the documentation, training, and maintenance of production systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Setup and Optimization:

o Assist in setting up manufacturing processes, including the installation and calibration of equipment.

o Support engineers in developing and refining manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

o Conduct time studies and process analysis to identify areas for improvement.

o Collaborate with the production team to ensure that processes are optimized for safety and efficiency.

2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

o Identify and troubleshoot issues with manufacturing equipment and processes, working closely with maintenance teams to implement fixes.

o Perform routine maintenance on machinery to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.

o Collaborate with the engineering team to develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.

3. Testing and Validation:

o Assist in the testing and validation of new manufacturing processes and equipment.

o Collect and analyze data to ensure that processes meet design specifications and quality standards.

o Support the engineering team in developing validation protocols and performing root cause analysis for process failures.

4. Documentation and Compliance:

o Create and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, equipment settings, and maintenance records.

o Ensure that all processes comply with industry standards, including ISO, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.

o Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

5. Continuous Improvement:

o Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

o Suggest and implement changes to manufacturing processes based on data analysis and feedback from the production team.

o Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.

6. Training and Support:

o Provide technical support and training to production staff on new processes, equipment, and procedures.

o Assist in the development of training materials and documentation for production teams.

o Ensure that production teams are following best practices and using equipment correctly.

Requirements:

• Associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing technology, engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field. A bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.

• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a role supporting engineering teams.

• Strong technical skills, including experience with machinery setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, or automated assembly.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

• Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is preferred.

• Knowledge of quality control standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO, FDA).

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, production teams, and maintenance personnel.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work on the production floor, including standing, walking, and lifting materials for extended periods.

• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for working with tools and machinery.

• Ability to safely operate and troubleshoot heavy machinery.
