Overview The Process Development Technician is responsible for carrying out the assignments required by the Process Technology Development team to meet the need of Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams, as well other Fujifilm divisions as needed. These responsibilities include hands-on manufacture as well as coordination of products, equipment and department operation as it relates to Technical Service activities at the New Castle Site. About FUJIFILM Locally: FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants, Inc. is part of FUJIFILM's Ink Solutions Group comprised of 4 companies based in the UK and USA responding to the Group CEO and COO responsible for 3 of the businesses including FFIC Inc. FFIC Inc. has a manufacturing site in New Castle, DE where aqueous dyes, RxD, and inks are made to support the InkJet digital printing market. NATURE OF POSITION: Working under the general direction of the PTD Manager and or the PTD Chemist, the Development Technician is responsible for projects involving a multitude of operations ranging from lab to proto-scale development, customer sample preparation, small scale proto batches, operation of laboratory instruments & equipment, formulation of aqueous inks, manufacturing support/troubleshooting, and external Fujifilm aqueous R&D support. Projects and activities will generally be focused on either existing toll ink manufacturing support, or new business development projects for Fujifilm branded aqueous inks. Within the lab scale or wet lab assets under the purview of the PTD group, some ink batch preparations may also fall within commercial saleable quantities to support the business, which must adhere to all quality system and standards applicable for routine manufacturing processes. As the function of the PTD group is linked to the manufacturing unit in a supportive role, the incumbent is required to keep abreast of the daily production issues and responds as needed in a troubleshooting capacity, as well as support longer term development projects/issues. Some projects and activities may involve instrument operation to support the needs of the business with respect to aqueous RxD products and troubleshooting. Documentation of all work carried out is expected. Incumbent will receive training on processes and equipment operation from an experienced technician and or Development Chemist. This position has an EHS requirement. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that a safe workplace is maintained, will participate in regular safety audits and inspections, and will also periodically participate in EHS Committee lab tours. The Development Technician is required to maintain on-site chemical/product storage inventories for the group and proper material disposal in accordance of site EHS policy. Position also requires a pro-active participation in the 5S, Continuous Improvements program, and Near Miss reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS EXPECTED Under the general direction of the PTD Manager and or the PTD Chemist, the Development Technician will be expected to manage the initiation, execution and completion of PTD group related Technical Service activities. Depending on the S-Technician level items below may be expected Carry out work assignments on development projects in a safe, accurate and reliable manner, in a time frame to meet pre-set deadlines and give recommendations on new or improving operating procedures in Laboratory and wet lab. Maintain equipment segregation and proper clean out after every project completion. Develop chemical /material handling and weighing skills from an experienced technician and maintain clean lab environment. Carry out all required material ordering and consumptions through SAP system, pre-manufacturing bundling; in process & material verifications and post manufacture review to maintain department's Right-First-time and On-Time In-full objectives. Maintain precise chemical inventory and proper accountability in sample storage and department warehouse storage for an accurate cycle count. Perform chemical disposal in safe manner and in accordance of site EHS policy. Support Manufacturing group in a troubleshooting and process improvement role under direction of PTD Chemist / PTD Manager. Prepare sample shipments as required by PTD/ Commercial request with proper shipping documents, company approved labels and SDS. Prepare, revise and train in Standard Operating Procedures. Carry out daily 5S check and weekly audits to maintain department spot clean. GMP processing as needed. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and spare equipments to insure safe, uninterrupted operation including pumps, filters, hoses, tools, cleaning supplies, safety equipments etc.
