The Commercial Relationship Manager manages commercial banking relationships for companies with annual revenue greater than $10 million and complex loans greater than $2.5 million. The incumbent has overall responsibility for retaining and expanding existing commercial relationships, as well as developing new commercial relationships in the C&I space, which may involve the sale and servicing of credit and non-credit products. The Relationship Manager will attend to the needs of customers seeking loans or lines of credit on terms that involve significant amounts of unsecured funds and/or credit secured by mortgages and other business collateral. Additionally, this role will sell and service non-credit products, including corporate cash management and online banking services. The Relationship Manager will interview customers and prospects to understand information concerning their business needs, financial condition, and performance to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk as defined by the Bank's credit policy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partners with credit Associates, such as Portfolio Managers, in the development and analysis of financial background data for new or renewed loans.
- Makes decisions on loans and terms within assigned individual lending limits, partners with line of business or credit administration personnel to approve credit under dual signature authority or makes recommendations to senior loan committee for approval.
- Calls on businesses to develop new relationships with prospective clients, as well as retain existing business, and promote additional bank services to current clients.
- The position relies on self-generated referral sources (I.e. CPAs, attorneys, business brokers) to develop new opportunities.
- Track existing loan portfolio to ensure complete conformity with terms and covenants.
- Monitors and identifies developing trends or early warning signs of problem credits, performs timely risk assessment based upon this information, and updates loan systems and customer credit files with assessments.
- Responsible for performing annual reviews of their assigned portfolio manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have 5 -10 years of experience in commercial lending and banking.
- Formal commercial lending credit training, consisting of financial statement analysis, loan structuring, and training is required.
- Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in a business-related field.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and consumer loan and deposit products is required.
- Must have superior Customer Service skills.
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
