Job Description Overview Environmental Safety Specialist-FP serve as a subject matter expert on environmental compliance issues affecting Government facilities. Responsible for drafting policy statements, standard operating procedures, fact sheets, newsletter articles and other communications regarding current and future environmental regulations affecting the Government. The Environmental Safety Specialist-FP will develop and/or review applicable environmental compliance and management plans. This includes reviewing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and providing Facilities' project managers advice on NEPA applicability. The Environmental Safety Specialist-FP will provide technical environmental regulatory assistance and guidance to facilitate environmental compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Responsible for conducting environmental compliance inspections/audits/evaluations as directed by the Government to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and Presidential Executive Orders. The Environment Safety Specialist-FP will update and monitor environmental regulatory permits held by the Government. Including the development and conduct of environmental compliance training for Government employees and contractors. Certifications Must have Valid U.S. Driver's License and be able to obtain an International Driver's License Must have a valid U.S. Passport Be licensed and able to drive a manual transmission non-tactical vehicle (SUV, pickup truck/9 passenger van). Pass customer specific training and certifications. Project Management Professional (PMP) desired. Professional Engineer (PE) certification desired. Travel must be worldwide deployable, often to remote, austere permissive and non-permissive environments. Clearance must have an current, adjudicated, and active TS/SCI security clearance with Poly. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Experience Five (5) years' of related experience Nationally recognized environmental credential desired (Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Professional Engineer (PE), etc.) One (1) year of OCONUS experience with local contractors and labor forces (may be cumulative over several projects/deployments) Six (6) months of experience working in a Government-designated war zone (may be cumulative over several projects/deployments) Microsoft Windows and Office Suite encompassing Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Access, and SharePoint: Knowledge of sound program management techniques Skills/Abilities Operate MS Project or other PM software such as MAXIMO Ability to analyze, prioritize, and problem solve effectively. Written and oral communication skills, especially ability to brief senior officials. Strong multi-tasker with the ability to manage time and priorities Strong leadership, project management, team building and presentation skills. Possess knowledge, skills and abilities, including experience in deployed expeditionary support services, at minimum, in areas of logistics management, logistics planning, facility management, supply, transportation, traffic management, vehicle maintenance, facility maintenance, facility management, warehouse management, janitorial support services, etc. Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities experience in facility Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support services with general carpentry and/or general construction skills performing and/or managing base or compound O&M support services Communicate well verbally and in writing at all organizational levels Work independently and as a team player Work nights and weekends for operational necessities, as required Continue developing professional licenses, certifications, and expertise through formal training and on-the-job experience Handle multiple, demanding, and complex projects in a timely manner with accurate results. Other Requirements Travel to and through out various CONUS and OCONUS locations, often to remote, austere, remote permissive, non-permissive environments. Work in an operationally-sensitive environment Perform tasks outside during any weather condition for long periods of time. Operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine and printer. Function in an office environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more. Work well in team environments including demonstrate the ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
