Job description
Duties You will perform services as a senior systems administrator: Plans, coordinates, and installs applications, software and hardware for operating systems, and manages the day-to-day operations of a global wide area network. You will optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems and ensures availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers. You will provide technical guidance and instruction to users and other IT specialists. You will prepare, coordinate, and implement policy and procedures for hardware and software applications system operations. You will be responsible for hardening Windows and Linux systems per requirements, to include Operating System (OS) patching, software patching, and anti-virus software management. You will manage and maintain several information systems network applications and systems, to include Microsoft Exchange, NetApp storage systems, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft SQL, and other GOTS/COTS applications as required. You will administer a multi-node Windows domain through the use of manual and automated tools and systems, including PowerShell scripting, Active Directory management, System Clustering and Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO). This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (451 - System Administrator), proficiency level (Advanced) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and DoN policies. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Planning difficult and complex assignments by implementing and applying new techniques and technologies, including installation, operation, and maintenance of automated communications systems and other desktop technologies. Coordinating Information Technology (IT) life cycle support with the organizations program managers, project managers, developers, technical staff, and engineers. Diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving problems relating to Information Technology (IT) systems, software/hardware, and develop solutions for integration/interoperability issues. Conducting interviews with users to generate requirements for new or modified Information Technology (IT) systems, services, software, and hardware. Additional information This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 45 and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include: Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and; Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. This position performs a primary cyber work role of 451 - System Administrator, and additional cyber work roles of N/A , per the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework.
