THE POSITION Serve as a Network Engineer for the JSSC at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. This expert will be responsible for the performance and efficiency of the network infrastructure, including managing network administration, upgrading hardware and software, performing backups, and handling physical infrastructure installations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Network Operations: Oversee all aspects of network operations, including planning, deploying, coordinating, and troubleshooting. Ensure JSSC's Command and Control (C2) systems are running smoothly and maintained properly. Stay Updated: Keep current with network technologies, protocols, and best practices. Use Management Tools: Use advanced tools to monitor, collect, analyze, and report on network performance. Research Equipment: Look into new equipment options that could improve the JSSC network. Configure Network Devices: Set up and maintain network equipment like Forescout, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and Juniper Firewalls. Manage routing tables, ACLs, and VLANs. Test New Equipment: Test new equipment or upgrades in a lab before they go live on the network. Document Operations: Keep a daily log of significant network events and a weekly maintenance schedule detailing maintenance activities. Coordinate with Others: Work with external organizations and leadership to resolve technical issues and build partnerships. Enhance and Secure Systems: Support and improve the customer's network while ensuring cybersecurity and compliance. Follow Policies: Adhere to safety, security, and procedural requirements, including training and certification. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 100% on-site at the Pentagon QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated; AND, Highschool diploma; AND, DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) Certification (CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent); AND, 5 years of general IT experience, Including: Proven experience as a Network Engineer in a similar role, preferably in a military or government setting, In-depth knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and hardware, Proficiency in managing and configuring network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls from major vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), Familiarity with network management and analysis tools, Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, And strong communication and coordination abilities.
