Job description

We are growing and adding a W2 occupational therapy practitioner to our amazing staff. We currently have school-based opportunities, and while Young & Well provides intervention in many settings, our priority for this new position is school-based hours for the school year.

Please read the entirety of this description, as Young & Well is a unique work setting and model, and only aligning candidates should apply. Thank you so much!

Young & Well is a pediatric therapy and psychology practice that provides intervention and classes to kids in our outpatient clinic, and everywhere they go: schools, nature, community, and pools. Therapists who join Young & Well accept the need to see kids everywhere they go, knowing that limiting themselves to one setting limits our best practices as clinicians and unique opportunities to build the capacity of the young people we serve.

In our school programs, our unique school-based contracting relationship is not one of a staffing company however, we are integrated into the Charter Schools' Special Education programs and become part of their teams. Because we are a small and local company, we have a completely different energy and relationship with our schools than large contracting companies! You have support from Young & Well leadership for advocacy and communication with your programs to benefit your students. No more red tape. No more issues with supplies, getting your students' needs met. _ Everyone says this, but you can ask our staff: We mean it, and we will do it! _

We recognize and understand that overwhelmed therapists with extremely high caseloads are unable to provide the services they want to provide to their students. We are able to fulfill that need through collaboration, teamwork, and caseload boundaries! As a company, we value applying work-life balance to our practice in how it works for each employee and believe we've got a great work experience designed for a meaningful life. Our goal is to co-create a work environment with our employees that allows them to love their workplace and meet their needs in various holistic ways. This requires a communicative relationship and we rely on the voices of our employees to craft a position that works for them, their colleagues, and the company. With our creative compensation structure for bonuses, you decide your earning potential based on your caseload design. You are not expected to work excessive hours with high caseloads. We cover 100% of healthcare at 30 hours per week.

Our outpatient clinic, community, and nature-based programs are founded on one basic evidence-based approach with children: connection. Therapists who work at Young & Well know the outcomes of having a strong connected relationship with children versus coercing them to do what an adult wants. If this sounds like you, and aligns with your view of children, all based in neuroscience, let's work together!

This position is:

1 appropriate for a new graduate and OT with experience who has received feedback that they are a strong problem-solver, extremely organized, and efficient with school-based fieldwork experience (for new graduates). Appropriate support and training are provided for new solid graduate candidates.

2. for a clinician who does not want to be micromanaged and is growth-oriented, valuing collaboration and learning amongst like-minded professional colleagues.

3 heavily trauma-informed and sensitive and will require frequent reflective processes from the trauma lens, including self-reflection to ensure nervous system safety when working with students and children. Candidates with unhealed trauma can find this to be overwhelming and are encouraged to apply after completing their own self-reflective work to be available for employment requirements at Young & Well.

At least 3 references confirming experience and ability to work well independently with high regard will be required.

What we need:

- Licensed and board-certified occupational therapist who has evaluation experience

- Ideally, 3 full days per week, but we are flexible.

- 3 years of experience ideally but will support strong new graduates

- Computer proficiency: comfort and ease with technology (We use Google)

- A professional with the proven ability (through references) to establish communicative and effective relationships with teachers and school staff

- A professional with diverse intervention strategies to fit the needs of their students (handwriting is important, but it's not the only skill needed in the classroom!) and think outside of the box mentality in meeting the needs of students and their classrooms

- This is a job for a person with positive energy a passion for OT and their work so you can fit in with our team of equally minded, hard-working, and positive providers and schools

- Strong computer literacy that will be assessed in our candidate process

What you get:
