Job Description:

The Senior Clinical Risk Consultant is responsible for ongoing risk management support for assigned account types, including physicians, clinics, hospitals, multi-specialty health systems and other alternative business subscribers. This position involves conducting risk evaluations and risk assessments and developing relevant risk management content. The consultant will drive change and reduce risk exposures while creating targeted service plans for members and clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk evaluations and onsite risk assessments for assigned accounts.
  • Analyze systems and processes in complex environments and recommend actions for improvement for account-specific risk management plans.
  • Consult on risk management issues via telephone, email and in person.
  • Provide risk consultation to internal and external customers by conducting research and engaging subject matter experts.
  • Lead and participate in risk management projects to address emerging risk management trends and meet department goals.
  • Develop and maintain educational content and programs on risk-related topics, ensuring accuracy and relevance per department guidelines.
  • Create and deliver account-specific educational offerings and programs based on risk assessment outcomes or identified needs, collaborating with the Risk Management Services Coordinator.
  • Work with other internal departments to identify and mitigate risk in existing and new accounts.
  • Attend risk management department meetings and represent the department at organizational meetings as assigned.
  • Stay current on risk management issues and trends through continuing education opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Active RN license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field
  • 5+ years of risk management experience in a clinical setting, including a hospital or multi-specialty health system environment
  • Valid driver's license required, with the ability to travel up to 50% to assigned accounts and other locations as necessary to accomplish department goals. Travel includes visits to the company office and national travel for account visits and professional engagements
  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with demonstrated knowledge of medical malpractice insurance, patient safety and risk management
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent grammar, writing and proofreading skills, with an attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications
  • Strong commitment to customer service and quality improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Associate in Risk Management, or other related certification (preferred)
