Job description

Position Title: Senior Cloud Architect Location: DMV Area and able to work on-site in Washington, D.C. if required Clearance: Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S. for at least 3 years and is able to obtain a Public Trust. Position Overview: Marathon TS is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to join our team supporting the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience to design, develop, and deploy secure cloud-based systems on AWS. You will play a critical role in reviewing technical designs, conducting architecture reviews, and implementing cloud-native solutions to enhance the maintainability, reliability, and security of FMCSA systems. Your future duties and responsibilities: Innovative Solutions Design: Develop and refine IT system requirements tailored to business needs. Conduct thorough analyses to identify the most effective, suitable, and cost-efficient alternatives that align with our high standards for capability and performance. Technical Quality Assurance: Lead the evaluation of technical designs, code reviews, security assessments, and test results. Ensure that both existing and proposed IT systems meet DOT and FMCSA design standards, prioritizing mission alignment, maintainability, security, and reliability. Architectural Excellence: Conduct comprehensive architecture reviews utilizing frameworks like the AWS Well Architected Framework. Provide expert recommendations to enhance system maintainability, reliability, availability, and security, ensuring top-tier performance. Creative Problem Solving: Apply your judgment, originality, and resourcefulness to develop and deliver cutting-edge systems and services that meet the precise requirements of business owners, leveraging the latest technological advancements. Collaborative Technology Strategy: Partner with FMCSA leadership and project teams to identify and implement technology solutions, with a focus on adopting Cloud-Native solutions such as Azure or AWS. Leadership in Best Practices: Support FMCSA leadership in developing, documenting, and implementing shared services and best practices within AWS, setting the benchmark for cloud excellence. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. 8 years of progressive IT experience, including 5 years within federal IT Cloud modernization projects specifically on AWS. Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and deploying secure cloud-based systems on AWS. Expertise in implementing security best practices in the development and deployment of cloud-based systems. Strong collaboration skills with development teams to design and implement new features and functionalities. Proven ability to provide guidance and training to development and operations teams on secure best practices and technologies. Experience in developing cloud requirements, generating conceptual and detailed design documentation, and driving cloud modernization projects. Ability to facilitate design discussions and reviews with Senior IT leadership.
