Senior Naval Combat Systems Engineer Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Outside Continental US The Opportunity: You will provide our clients (e.g. NAVSEA, NSWC, MSC, USCG, etc.) with expert combat systems technical support for the development of next generation naval vessels. This entails amphibious (LHA and LPD), aircraft carriers (CVN), combatants (DDG, FFG, etc.) and other future ship classes across their acquisition program life cycle. The type of support provided will vary based on project requirements. It is expected that all combat systems engineers will stay current with regards to emerging naval technologies, ship design requirements, analysis, and modeling tools. Entry and mid-level engineers will participate as members of engineering teams and continue to enhance their skillsets. Senior engineers will lead engineering teams, review work, and mentor team members. Additionally, all will support strategic growth opportunities in the combat systems marketspace by participating in the development of future business proposals. The Primary Focus for this role as the CACI Principal Combat Systems SME for Combat Systems technical areas including but are not limited to: Experience acquiring, designing, installing, testing, evaluating, operating, or troubleshooting US Navy Combat Systems Suites (either AEGIS or SSDS)
Knowledge of how Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems are integrated into US Navy Combat System Suites
Ability to understand Installation Control Drawing Lists (ICDLs), Installation Control Drawings, (ICDs), and Cable Block Diagrams for US Navy Combat System Suites
Ability to understand, write, and assess ship specifications and contract language
Knowledge of naval operations and warfighting: mission areas, kill chains, and interoperability
Knowledge of DoD (e.g. USN, NATO, NAVSEA, PEO IWS) combat systems technical documentation (e.g. Instructions, Policies, Procedures, Military Standards (MIL-STDs affecting combat systems acquisition, design, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance More About the Role: Provide clients with timely, accurate technical assessments, advice, and recommendations utilizing DoD combat systems technical documentation and professional experience
Attend meetings in person (as required) to support client mission objectives
Develop relationships with clients to determine future engineering requirements
Support strategic growth opportunities in the combat systems marketspace by participating in the development of business proposals
Foster strong mentorship culture to enhance junior employee Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Lead the development of combat systems business proposals Qualifications: US Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active Secret Clearance
Willingness to travel 10% of the time with a current US Passport
Capable of performing design shipchecks onboard MSC and Navy ships
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
Bachelors of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, ABET accredited technical degree or equivalent military combat systems experience
Self-starter, technically savvy, capable of multitasking
Possess solid attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical abilities
Fifteen years of engineering experience, with ten years of combat systems experience in acquiring, designing, installing, testing, evaluating, operating, or troubleshooting US Navy Combat Systems Suites (either AEGIS or SSDS)
Five years of experience performing as an engineering team lead in charge of 10 or more team members
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to market CACI team capabilities
Experience briefing complex technical issues to clients and respective decision makers with regards to cost, schedule, performance, and risk This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
