Job description

Duties Serve as a supervisory data scientist in the Performance Analytics Division with responsibility as a senior subject matter expert Prepare workload and production goals, submitting them as necessary to upper management. Apply professional knowledge of computer science, mathematical, statistical theories, techniques, and methods to gather, analyze, design. Construct new processes for modeling, interpreting, and/or reporting quantitative information, trends, relationships, and correlations among or within data sets. Research, compiles, and evaluates training programs, and their pros and cons. Lead technical projects using advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, robotic process automation, and artificial intelligence. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a SECRET clearance. Position may require approximately 10% temporary duty (TDY) travel. KEY POSITION - The duty of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years, Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document . Basic Requirement for Data Scientist: A: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to 30 semester hours as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional related education or appropriate experience. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which includes work that involves 1) Maintain and evolve the Enterprise Architecture Analytics Project in Army Vantage/ADP 2.0. 2) Maintain and evolve the OEM analytics methodology and tool (the "Integrated Diagnostic") in support of Army Defense Business System (DBS) Portfolio Management. 3) Support decision maker and stakeholder decisions to optimize business resources, increase efficiencies, and identify cost avoidance opportunities. 4) Develop insights to deliver positive business impact for assigned functional domains such as Acquisition, Financial Management, Installations, Energy & Environment, Human Resources Management, Logistics, and Training & Readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
