Duties In this position you will will be responsible for conveying a thorough understanding of threats, conditions, and trends, editing the work of subordinates, directing day-to-day tasks, coordinating with other DHS and Intelligence Community (IC) Watch and operations centers, and briefing senior leadership. This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Security Clearance: This position requires a Top Secret with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) security clearance. Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Contributing to the short- and long-term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to border security. Identifying intelligence gaps and assisting with the development of associated Essential Elements of Information required to satisfy and close intelligence gaps. Compiling, collating, extrapolating, and exploiting information from a variety of sources, using creative methodology for unusual problems. Conducting studies, preparing intelligence reports, and delivering briefings to manager and operators to enhance understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/12/2024. Additional information Leadership Training: All newly appointed second level Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 4 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed. Shift Work/Overtime: The position is subject to mandatory unscheduled work hours and travel. This may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Training: This position has a training requirement. You may be required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment. Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures. Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete paid mandatory training. Courses currently include (but are not limited to) the Intelligence Foundations Course, Systems Exploitation Training, and the CBP Intelligence Support to Operations Course.
